While many are looking forward to the launch of Windows Phone 8.1 – the most significant update to WP8 since its launch – in the next few months, there is still one more interim update between now and then. Windows Phone 8 Update 3 is continuing its gradual roll-out across the globe, and the latest device to get it is Nokia’s Lumia 625.
The 820, 920, 925 and 1020 have all started to receive the update so far, while the 1320 and 1520 both launched with the latest version of the OS installed. Unlike other Windows Phone vendors, Nokia is bundling Update 3 with its own set of enhancements and improvements to the OS, and rolling it out under the ‘Lumia Black update’ moniker.
As All About Windows Phone (AAWP) reports, Lumia Black is now available for the 625 in many European markets, although availability currently varies between countries and operators. As with previous updates, the process of deployment will be gradual, so if the update is not yet on offer for your Lumia 625, don’t panic just yet. You can check when the update will be ready for your handset on Nokia’s site.
AAWP also notes that the lower-end hardware of the 625 means that certain features in Lumia Black will not be available for the device, including Glance Screen support, and the ability to run Nokia’s recently launched Beamer and Refocus apps.
