MacWorld 2010 shifts to February

You may remember from last years MacWorld event that Apple announced they are pulling out from any future conventions, and will mainly rely on events hosted by themselves. This change has been dramatic for the show, and as such, there have been a few changes for next year.

First up, according to the IDG website, MacWorld is being held from February 9 to February 13 next year. In the past, dates have been in January. TUAW has posted details about the change, in which Paul Kent, the General Manager for the event, stated that exhibitors wished for MacWorld to be moved to a less stressful time of the year.

As the main partner, Apple, has dropped out, the physical size of the expo has been scaled down; as well as this, the focus is being shifted to independent software developers of Mac software, which will no doubt increase the community value of the event. There are currently over 10,000 people registered to attend the 2010 MacWorld. Keep your eyes on Neowin closer to the time of the expo in 2010 to see if any big announcements are made, but again, don"t expect any from Apple as they aren"t attending.
