Look, I know an article with a headline like this gives immediate April Fool’s vibes, but we are long past that date and I assure you, there"s no satire here. I am happy to report there is now a search engine that will help you find only half-loaves of bread.
But why? According to developer Peabee, an entire loaf of bread is too much. He says, “I love bread, but I don"t want to be eating 20 slices in 3 days. It shouldn"t be so hard to find half-loaves of bread. They should be available more abundantly.” The website has some limitations. For starters, users can only search for basic white and brown sandwich bread. This means if you’re looking to pick up a half-loaf of Schnitzer"s famous marble rye to bring to your future in-laws for dinner, you’re out-of-luck.

So, how does it work? Well, according to the developer it relies on Dunzo, which is a Door-Dash like service in India that boasts a 19-minute delivery time. Using Dunzo’s API key, the developer is able to search all the stores Dunzo sources product from. Unfortunately, Dunzo’s business in located in India and this restricts usage to Bengaluru, Chennai, Gurgaon, Hyderabad, Mumbai, New Delhi, and Pune. If you are in one of these areas, give it a shot and you will get handsome results like the ones below with adorable half-loaves as map pins.
Aside from fun like this, is there a market for specialized search engines to do less general things that Bing and Google are not equipped to do? What kind of specialized search engine would you like to have?
