Since the beginning of the year, Facebook co-founder Mark Zuckerberg has been developing and coding a passion project - his very own personal AI assistant.
Earlier this year, we reported the entrepreneur was using Facebook as a creative platform to outsource ideas, such as who should voice his assistant as well as what it should be named. The open discussion sparked many ideas, causing some unsurprisingly outrageous names put forward such as Donald Trump and Arnold Schwarzenegger.
Today, Mark Zuckerberg posted a few words on Facebook to announce how far the project has come, including the capabilities and tasks the AI assistant can handle. Within a few hours, the tech billionaire posted a short clip that awkwardly demonstrates Zuckerberg and his family interacting with Jarvis.
The two-minute proof-of-concept video opens with Zuckerberg waking from sleep where he proceeds to grab a phone from atop an Apple Macbook before greeting Jarvis. The video continues through Zuckerberg’s daily routines showcasing the capabilities of, including Morgan Freeman’s soothing voice over.
However, upon watching the video, it appears Jarvis shares more in common with Amazon’s Echo, than it does with Marvel’s “Jarvis” from Ironman. Zuckerberg is no Tony Stark at least when it comes to cinematic performance. There are a few awkward dad jokes and a 2001: A Space Odyssey reference tied in with a Nickelback joke.
Perhaps it is Zuckerberg’s earnest prompts that come across strange, but at least the T-shirt cannon within Zuckerberg"s wardrobe is cool, right?
