NetMarketShare"s previous report for the market share of desktop browsers indicated that Google Chrome was rising at a rapid pace, whereas Edge was only moving forward at a snail"s pace, consistent to previous reports.
The latest statistics from the firm now indicates that the market share for almost all browsers has remained more or less unchanged.
The latest statistics for NetMarketShare indicate that Google Chrome has only shown a slight growth of 0.11 percentage points, as compared to the previous month, and now sits at 58.64%. Prior to this, the browser had almost always shown an increase of at least 0.5 percentage points.
On the other hand, Internet Explorer"s market share fell to 18.95% - a decrease of 0.22 percentage points. Microsoft Edge continued to gain, and now sports a market share of 5.61%, compared to 5.55% last month.
Mozilla Firefox showed a slight increase as well, and now boasts 11.79% of the desktop market. However, Apple"s Safari declined to 3.37%, compared to 3.45% in the previous month. The "Others" section, consisting of Opera and others, remained more or less stagnant at 1.62%.
It is important to note that most of these changes in market share are very slight and within the margin of error. Ultimately, it also solidifies the position of Google Chrome as the leading browser, with Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox and Microsoft Edge lagging far behind.
