Mass Effect 3: Extended Cut to be released June 26th

The ending of Mass Effect 3 has proven to be one of the most controversial ever in a game. Now, developer BioWare has announced a launch date for an "Extended Cut" for that ending that hopefully will make at least some of the sci-fi RPG"s fans happier. The free DLC will be released for the PC version on Tuesday, June 26th.

The ending of Mass Effect 3, first released in March, was an immediate source of contention for some of the series" fans, who felt that it wasn"t a satisfactory conclusion to the storyline begun several years ago with the first game in BioWare"s game trilogy. Some fans started petitions asking BioWare to change the ending. A few weeks after Mass Effect 3 was released, BioWare"s co-founder Dr. Ray Muzyka said that the team was "working hard" to provide a solution for the fans of the game.

The Extended Cut DLC is the result of this work. According to BioWare, "Through additional cinematic sequences and epilogue scenes, the Extended Cut will include deeper insight to Commander Shepard"s journey based on player choices during the war against the Reapers."

More information on the Extended Cut DLC can be read in an official FAQ page. In addition, BioWare"s Casey Hudson, Mac Walters and Jessica Merizan recorded a new podcast where they offer more information about the DLC.
