The original Mass Effect series ended its run in 2012, concluding Commander Shepard and his crew"s fan-favorite journey on the Normandy. If a new report is to be believed, EA is planning to bring back this popular series with a fresh coat of paint in the form of a Mass Effect Trilogy HD remaster.
VentureBeat"s Jeff Grubb revealed this to be the case after an unnamed "HD title" appeared in EA"s latest financial earnings report. The publisher plans to release 14 games during the 2021 fiscal year, including Command & Conquer Remastered, Medal of Honor: Above and Beyond, four sports titles, multiple games from EA Partners, and mobiles entries, among others.
Although no release platforms were mentioned in the report for the Mass Effect Trilogy remaster, the Switch would apparently be missing out on the new version, at least at launch. If a remaster were to materialize next year, there"s a good chance of the package being released for PC, current generation, as well as next-generation consoles from Microsoft and Sony, perhaps with much higher tier visuals on the newer hardware.
The yearly EA Play event is set to return in June as a completely digital presentation heralding new announcements from the publisher. If a remaster of the BioWare epic is incoming, that"s probably where we will hear about it officially.
