Xiaomi today announced the Redmi K30 in China. The handset comes in two flavors: 4G and 5G. The latter steals all the limelight due to the value for money and specs it brings to the table.
The Redmi K30 5G marks the beginning of mid-range 5G smartphones making their way to the market. It is also the first smartphone to be announced with Qualcomm"s 765G chipset which was announced just earlier this month. It is based on the 7nm EUV process and comes with an integrated 5G modem. Lastly, the Redmi K30 5G is also the first phone to launch with Sony"s new 64MP IMX686 sensor.
For a mid-range smartphone, the Redmi K30 5G packs a lot of features that you would otherwise find in a flagship smartphone of 2019. This includes a 120Hz high refresh rate display, dual-punch hole display, a 64MP primary rear camera, 5G connectivity, and more.
Below are the full specs of the Redmi K30 5G:

This makes the Redmi K30 5G the cheapest 5G phone to be announced yet. The phone is unlikely to go on sale outside of China but it marks the beginning of mid-range 5G smartphones that don"t cost $1,000 making their way to the market.
The Redmi K30 5G only supports sub-6GHz 5G networks as no major operator outside of the U.S. is deploying 5G on the mmWave frequency first. The phone goes on sale in China in January 2020.
As for the 4G variant of the Redmi K30, it has largely the same specs as its 5G brother barring a few differences. It comes with a slower Snapdragon 730G chipset, supports 27W fast charging, and features a 2MP f/2.4 macro sensor instead of a 5MP one. Pricing for the Redmi K30 starts from CNY 1599 or $230. It goes on sale in China from this month itself.
