Last week we reported on Meizu"s newly announced Zero smartphone that features no speaker grill, charging port, SIM slot or buttons. Although this "non-porous" design might be an indication of what"s to come in the near future, apparently, if you"re in a rush, you can back a campaign, that should get you the phone by April.
The team at Meizu has started its Indiegogo campaign for the phone, making it available in a small batch. When the campaign started, the phone was available in two options, with the "Exclusive Engineer Unit" costing $1,299 and the Exclusive Pioneering Unit costing $2,999. The latter is now sold out, with one claimed, but the other model still has plenty, with a maximum of 100 units being available to claim.
If unfamiliar with the Meizu Zero, the phone is designed to have an "uninterrupted design" by "embracing minimalism to the extreme". Because of its design philosophy, the smartphone will have an in-display fingerprint reader and "mSound 2.0 In-screen Sound Technology which allows the display to function like a speaker and an earpiece".
The unit will also not have a charging port or physical hardware buttons, instead relying on wireless charging and virtual buttons with "Pressure Sensing Technology". Naturally, since it does not have any "holes" you can expect excellent water and dust resistance, with it having an IP68 rating.
