Mercenary Ops announced as PC exclusive

A group of game developers who previously worked under the title Epic Games China has now broken away from the Epic Games label with a new third person shooter, Mercenary Ops, that will be a PC exclusive. The developer is now called Yingpei Games but the game itself will still use Epic"s Unreal Engine 3 as its basis.

Not much has been revealed about the game"s single player storyline but based on the trailer above, it looks like it is set on a near-future version of Earth with lots of shooting, some glimpses of underwater action and what looks like the tentacle of a really large sea creature. In other words, this is not a Call of Duty clone.

Yingpei Games says having Mercenary Ops as a PC-only game will allow it to have some extra features such as better graphics, destructible environments and more. There will also be ways for characters to customize their weapons by gaining experience throughout the game.

Look for multiplayer to be represented by several modes for up to 16 players along with a co-op mode for between three to eight people that will have players facing off against enemies in waves of attacks.

Mercenary Ops will be published by the newly established company Kalends Publishing and will be released sometime this summer.
