The July 2016 update for the Windows App Studio is now available, and it includes a number of new features. You might recall that last month, Microsoft introduced REST API support for the service. Some of today"s features build on top of that.
Here"s a summary of what"s new today:
API Gallery
Custom API Sharing
Collections limit increase
Favorites in pivot apps
If the REST API data source was a bit too confusing for you (after all, App Studio is made for people with minimal developer skills), that"s where the API gallery comes in. The gallery will aggregate different implementations of the REST API source, which are submitted by users of the service.
For example, the REST API data source is completely open. If you find one that you want to use, implement it, and it works, you can share it with the rest (pun intended) of the community.
If you"ve ever thought about making a Windows app but don"t have the developer skills - or even the time - you might want to consider giving Windows App Studio a try. They continue to add new features every month or two.
