While there"s been an official Major League Soccer app available for Windows 8 owners to download for several months, it looks like both Microsoft and MLS are getting even more serious about offering the latest news and information about the growing US pro soccer organization.
Today, Microsoft announced that a new version of the official app, MLS MatchDay, has now been published in the Windows Store. Microsoft stated:
As part of MLS’ initiative to be known as “the smartest league,” the improved app for Windows 8 will feature exclusive content and this season’s schedule, standings, highlights, play-by-play, roster lineups, game stats, goals, cards and substitutions. In addition, with the Windows 8 Live Tiles, fans will be able to customize their experiences to focus on their favorite club news.
The revamped app is part of a new multi-year agreement between Microsoft and MLS that will include other joint ventures. One of these partnerships will let fans demo the Surface tablet at 40 MLS games this season. The press release added, "Throughout the course of the agreement, Windows 8 and MLS will continue to innovate to create cutting-edge experiences for soccer fans in the stadium and online."
