Microsoft and Nokia deal to go through defying Indian legal battle

Microsoft"s acquisition of Nokia"s devices and services division is believed to be in its final stages and will reportedly complete within the next 20 days.

According to revelations by Nokia India"s legal counsel, the global deal with Microsoft is now set to complete within 20 days as bureaucratic hitches in China, which was one of the concerned nations against the deal, have been resolved.

Nokia India has been facing a tax dispute with the Indian government which was believed to hamper Nokia"s deal with Microsoft. Now, the company"s legal counsel has confirmed that the deal will go through and the disputed manufacturing unit in Chennai will either go to Microsoft or "down the drain" depending on the government"s decision to settle.

Earlier it was reported that Samsung and Google requested Chinese regulators to check the Microsoft-Nokia deal in addition to the opposition in Korea, but now it seems those threats have been countered as the deal which involves transfer of nearly 30,000 employees from Nokia to Microsoft is on track for completion by the end of the first quarter.
