Microsoft has today announced a multi-year alliance with Japanese telecommunications firm Nippon Telegraph and Telephone (NTT). The collaboration aims to continue the digital transformation of enterprise customers through the development of reliable solutions.
NTT has chosen Microsoft"s cloud platform as its preferred path toward modernization. As such, this team-up will see the Redmond giant"s Azure and AI technologies being utilized in conjunction with NTT"s managed services, cybersecurity solutions, and more.
Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella commented on the partnership in the following manner:
"Our strategic alliance combines NTT"s global infrastructure and services expertise with the power of Azure. Together, we will build new solutions spanning AI, cybersecurity and hybrid cloud, as we work to help enterprise customers everywhere accelerate their digital transformation."
Jun Sawada, President and CEO of NTT, also expressed his belief in this partnership assisting enterprises in realizing the digital transformation goals they have set.
The following initiatives have been identified as the core components of this alliance:
- Formation of a Global Digital Fabric
- Development of digital enterprise solutions
- Co-innovation of next-generation technologies
With regards to the Global Digital Fabric, it is a combination of Microsoft Azure and NTT"s ICT infrastructure in the form of a robust environment for businesses worldwide. Moreover, the proposed digital enterprise solutions will have cybersecurity threat intelligence, social robotics with relational AI for digital companions, and more covered under their scope.
And finally, both companies will be looking to pool their resources in order to advance the development of next-gen technologies in keeping with their respective sustainability initiatives. This includes focus on NTT"s proposed solutions such as digital twin computing and all-photonics networks.
