You may have heard that Microsoft will be attending the Mobile World Congress trade show in Barcelona, Spain next week. You may have also heard that the company plans to make some big announcement at the show, including the launch of a certain Consumer Preview version of Windows 8 on Wednesday. If you happen to be attending the eventMicrosoft and its subsidiary Skype have a nice offer.
In a post on the Skype blog site, the company announced that it will offer all Spain residents and visitors free access to over 24,000 WiFi hotspots in that country. The free period starts on Sunday, February 26 and ends on Thursday. March 1.
Naturally there are a couple of catches to the free deal; residents can access the WiFi hotspots for up to two hours for free that week. In addition, the amount of free time is broken up into four 30 minute segments.
The free WiFi can be accessed via the Skype app for PC and Mac users along with the app for Apple"s iOS devices. The Skype app for Android is not a part of this free WiFi offer which is not surprising considering the current fighting between Microsoft and Google.
