Microsoft announces improvements to the Office 365 Enterprise K1 plan

Microsoft continually updates its Office 365 software, with improvements to enhance productivity. The March update brought numerous new features, including co-authoring in Excel, and improvements to OneNote.

Now, the company has announced updates to the Office 365 Enterprise K1 plan, which will include new products in order to allow frontline workers to be more productive.

Microsoft"s Office 365 Enterprise K1 is a software that allows frontline workers to connect and interact with one another, in order to organize tasks and schedules, enable easy access to on-board and training materials, and manage employee access and digital identity. The service costs $4 monthly for each user.

Microsoft explains that frontline workers are an integral part of the industry responsible for managing daily activities, designing the latest products, and interacting with customers. As such, the Redmond giant is looking to empower them with the cutting-edge technology and tools to enhance their multitasking capabilities.

Microsoft is adding the following products to the Office 365 Enterprise K1 plan:

  • Microsoft StaffHub - Helps frontline workers manage their workday with schedule management, information sharing and the ability to connect to other work-related apps and resources. StaffHub was added to the K1 plan earlier this year.
  • OneDrive for Business with 2 GB of cloud storage - Provides employees a secure environment to store, manage and access files from virtually anywhere and on any device.
  • Skype for Business presence and instant messaging - Enables employees to communicate in real-time, along with the ability to participate in Skype Meeting Broadcast sessions.
  • Microsoft Teams - A hub for teamwork that connects employees to the people, tools and content they need to do their best work.
  • Office 365 Video - Provides employees with a secure, company-wide destination for posting, sharing and discovering video content.
  • Microsoft PowerApps and Microsoft Flow - Eases the automation of repetitive tasks and workflows.

Microsoft says that the inclusion of these tools to the Office 365 K1 plan will allow frontline workers to participate in video-based training programs and live meetings. It also claims that these updates will enable companies to better manage the access of their employees to meet "today’s complex and constantly changing security and compliance requirements."
