After launching a new Office 365 marketing campaign on Friday that made fun of Google Apps in the form of actor Rob Schneider, Microsoft continued its promotional push for its cloud-based productivity software today with announcements of new customers for the service.
Today"s post stated that Office 365 is now being used by Sensia Hälsovård AB, SEPCOIII, and Arysta LifeScience. All three organizations previously used or piloted Google Apps before deciding to go with Microsoft"s solution, according to the press release. In the case of Arysta LifeScience, the group found they could not share calendars and that Google Apps had limited offline features.
Dustin Collins, global head of IT infrastructure for Arysta LifeScience, stated in Microsoft"s press release:
Google Apps was difficult to use and lacked the capabilities our employees had grown accustomed to in Office. With Office 365 we’re able to interact and engage with each other more, allowing us to efficiently and quickly respond to new opportunities. As a result, we’re a more agile, competitive organization.
Microsoft"s new effort to go after Google Apps comes after the city of Boston decided to ditch Microsoft Exchange for Google Apps, mainly for cost reasons. Microsoft sent out a statement that was critical of Boston"s decision, claiming that the security and privacy features for Google Apps were "inadequate."
