Microsoft announces new features coming to Planner

Microsoft launched Planner as part of Office 365 in June 2016 with the objective to take "the chaos out of teamwork". The firm announced four new features coming to the service today, which Microsoft says have been among the top requests in its Planner UserVoice community forum.

First up is the new schedule view. This is a sort of calendar view that allows you to see all of your tasks. You can drag and drop different things on your schedule, and there are both weekly and monthly views.

There are also new Group and Filter options, which are meant to "give you deeper insights into your tasks to help you meet key deadlines." You can use the Group feature to view tasks that haven"t been started yet, or you can view tasks that have already been completed. You can also use the Filter function to see tasks that are due by a certain date, and by combining the two features, you can prioritize your work appropriately.

Another new feature, although a bit more minor, is due date notifications. These will come through email with everything that"s due in the upcoming week.

All of the above features should be available beginning today, but coming soon is iCalendar format feed. You"ll soon be able to add your task schedule to your Outlook calendar, or other calendars that support it.

You can check out the new features in Microsoft Planner here.
