Microsoft announces new Power Platform features like AI Builder and PowerApps Portal

At the Microsoft Business Applications Summit, the company introduced some new features for its Power Platform. On the PowerApps side of things, there"s a new AI Builder tool, which lets no-code developers use AI and ML features in their apps.

There are a number of prebuilt AI models, which include things like text recognition or object recognition. A user could use a camera, which would be able to detect different objects. AI Builder also works with Microsoft Flow, so you can scan documents from emails and have the app recognize the content, and so on.

Microsoft is also introducing the PowerApps Portal, which will let you distribute your websites to partners and customers. In other words, you won"t be limited to those apps only being available to your organization.

The firm is also introducing a new look and feel for Power BI, which will now be more consistent with the rest of Office 365. There will be new features like report commenting, making it easier for people to collaborate on data. It will even support Siri Shortcuts on iOS.

You"ll be able to get paginated reports, similar to what"s been available on SQL Server for over a decade. You can print them, format them as PDFs, convert them to Excel, and more.
