Microsoft announces several new ad & media partnerships

Microsoft"s advertising division has been busy of late and are perhaps best known for creating in-app ads for the Modern apps in Windows 8. Today, the division announced several new programs it will be involved in as part of its presentation at the Digital Content NewFronts show in New York City.

Microsoft Advertising"s blog has posted up what it revealed today, including a new partnership with OneBeat to create an Xbox 360 app devoted to the coverage of electronic dance music. The app will launch in May and Microsoft says, "The OneBeat app on Xbox will provide original content and immersive storytelling experiences that will introduce new opportunities for our brand partners to engage with EDM fans and culture."

Another program is called StageDoor that has now launched on Microsoft"s MSN website. The site now has nine video channels, each designed to cover a different demographic, that are organized like television channels with both original and aggregated content. Microsoft says: "With "StageDoor," advertisers can involve their brand directly in the story and connect more deeply with their target consumer. Every channel provides sponsorship opportunities that can range from custom product placements to segment branding."

Microsoft Advertising will be the digital partner for the upcoming Showtime climate change documentary series Years of Living Dangerously. Microsoft will offer extra content from the show that will be shown on MSN, Xbox 360 and Windows 8. Finally, the previously announced second season of The Lebrons, the animated series created by basketball player LeBron James, will make its debut exclusively on Xbox Live on May 10th, with cross promotion on the Bing Sports app for Windows 8.
