Today"s a big day if you"re a fan of Microsoft. Windows Mixed Reality headsets are now available for purchase, the Windows 10 Fall Creators Update is out, and in a surprise move, the company announced the Surface Book 2. With that in mind, you"d be forgiven if the new mouse that the firm unveiled flew under your radar, but the Surface Precision Mouse is worth taking a look at.
Just like Microsoft"s Modern Keyboard with Fingerprint ID, it offers both a wired and wireless connection, so it should pair automatically when you have it connected via the micro-USB cable. What"s interesting is that you can pair it with up to three PCs, so you can "seamlessly work across all your devices." Indeed, it should work like a multi-monitor setup.
There are also three buttons on the side that you can set to do whatever you want, like launch a program, execute a macro, or save a document. Unfortunately, this customization, as well as multi-device support, isn"t available on Windows 10 S. Of course, this tends to be the problem with Windows 10 S, because while drivers work, software that comes with those drivers doesn"t, and apparently even Microsoft isn"t using a Store app to get around that.
The Precision Mouse is also designed for comfort. It"s "crafted based on ergonomic principles which make it perfect for long hours of work", with side grips, and its machined aluminum buttons and scroll wheel.
Finally, it"s designed for - you guessed it - precision. Microsoft says that it "carefully calculated Surface Precision Mouse’s weight, stability, and precision for easy manipulation."
The Surface Precision Mouse is available for pre-order beginning today in the United States and Canada from the Microsoft Store and Best Buy for $99 USD, and it will ship on November 16.
