Microsoft apologises for serving malware

Microsoft is red-faced after admitting it has been serving malware to users via MSN Messenger and its MSN website network. APC Magazine in Australia has screenshots of the malware in action, which was being pumped via a banner ad booked by an MSN advertiser.

Microsoft has admitted to the mistake and pledged to improve its advertiser screening process. But it"s a major blow for the company which has been devoting years of effort to convincing users Windows is now a safer OS.
