Microsoft approves Xbox Duke controller with OLED screen

At E3 2017, we were able to get a small surprise from Hyperkin in the form of a recreation of the original Xbox Duke controller. Now it appears that the firm has received final approval from Microsoft, which means that it will be going into production soon.

The news comes by way of Seamus Blackley, who is working with Hyperkin in order to bring this controller back from the dead. Blackley was a designer of the original Duke controller, so it only seems fitting that he would be working on this project. While the new Duke controller looks similar, it does have some improvements over the original, like a breakaway cord that measures in at nine feet in length. As we showed off in our previous coverage and can also be seen above, there will also be an OLED display embedded into the controller that will feature an animated Xbox logo.

Furthermore, the new controller will offer compatibility with the Windows 10 PCs and the Xbox One. Currently, it is unknown when exactly this controller will arrive to retail or how much it will cost, but if Hyperkin is sticking with its original idea of manufacturing a limited number, chances are, this thing could be quite expensive.
