Microsoft has announced an expansion of its partnership with business application software maker SAP that will allow several of its products to run on Azure cloud servers soon. The announcement also includes word of new SAP mobile apps coming for Windows 8.1 and Windows Phone.

The official Microsoft blog states that by the end of June, SAP will approve applications for Microsoft Azure, including its Business Suite software, its Business All-In-One solution, the SAP Mobile Platform, SAP Adaptive Server Enterprise (SAP ASE) and the developer edition of the SAP HANA platform.

SAP"s software is used by 86 percent of the companies on the Fortune 500 list. This new partnership with Microsoft will allow them to move their SAP software to Azure cloud servers. Microsoft says this will allow businesses to have "nearly unlimited computing capacity" for their SAP applications.

In addition, Microsoft said that updated versions of the SAP Mobile Platform SDKs for Windows 8.1 and Windows Phone are in development. Preview versions are scheduled to be released by the end of 2014 and they should be generally available sometime in 2015.
