Microsoft Band gets guided workouts and exercise feedback with first firmware update

Yesterday Microsoft started rolling out additional features to the firmware update for the Microsoft Band, which brought it up to version 1.1.2110.0 09R; this follows the app and device update that was released a week ago, which is also required to get this latest firmware.

The update adds an exercise feedback feature as well as a dozen new workouts to the list on the Microsoft Health service, focusing on strength training across skill ranges.

To get the new features, you will first need to ensure that the Health app on your mobile device is up to date, then install the new firmware update. It"s possible that this is a staggered release,. as some users have reported getting the update as early as Wednesday night, while others have not yet been prompted to update.

The $199 fitness device was released last October and has suffered several retail shortages, as well as lackluster support for updates to basic features most requested by early adopters.
