Microsoft buys ADSL equipment from Actton

A report in the Taiwanese Economic News said that Microsoft has placed firm orders for ADSL modems and wireless LAN equipment from local firm Accton. Actton won the order against competition from other Taiwanese firms including D-Link and Ambit, although the newspaper was unable to say how much the order was worth.

The ADSL modems will be delivered to Microsoft and re-branded with its logo in early 2002 and will be used for the Microsoft"s US internet service provider business.

Microsoft has also placed orders for wireless LAN equipment and so has Cisco, the newspaper reports.
