The cloud computing infrastructure, Microsoft Cloud continues to increase its operations, such as introducing datacenter regions to Seoul in South Korea. Microsoft Azure has also become accessible via several datacenters in Canada’s Toronto and Quebec City, with Office 365 also providing data residency for its Canadian members with a business account.
The installations make Microsoft one of the largest cloud computing provider, with Azure commonly available in 24 areas worldwide, and 32 areas overall. Microsoft has so far spent over $15 billion towards developing their cloud services, as well as reducing the costs.
The Chief Technology Officer of the South Korean entertainment firm JYP Entertainment, Chan Park said these introductions should aim to decrease business costs and increase overall efficiency. “I believe that the expansion of the Microsoft Cloud in Korea will create big momentum for many Korean companies to very actively adopt cloud services.”
Canada’s data residency covers back-up services across the country, as well as the choice to directly connect to the public cloud via a private link, otherwise known as Azure ExpressRoute. The Minister of Internal Services for the Province of Nova Scotia, Labi Kousoulis said their partnership with Microsoft is a fantastic chance for innovation. “We are excited to be taking advantage of the newly opened Microsoft Canadian data centre where we will begin moving more than 35,000 users to the Microsoft Canadian cloud over the coming years.”
