Microsoft completes its acquisition of SwiftKey

A few weeks ago, a rumor popped up claiming that Microsoft was preparing to acquire SwiftKey, whose virtual keyboards - powered by artificial intelligence and machine learning models - are in use on over 300 million iOS and Android devices around the world. Hours later, Microsoft confirmed that it was indeed in the process of making that acquisition.

Today, a representative for the company dropped us a line to draw our attention to its February blog post, which has now been updated with a single line, stating: "Microsoft has completed the acquisition of SwiftKey."

The terms of the purchase were not revealed, although the earlier report suggested that the deal was worth around $250 million.

Microsoft"s purchase of the British company will further strengthen its cross-platform mobile software portfolio, while also furnishing it with the technology that powers SwiftKey"s software, adding to its own extensive machine learning resources.
