Microsoft confirms Edge will sync passwords, bookmarks, tabs and more

Microsoft is feverishly working on a new browser that was recently coined Edge, formerly Project Spartan. The new browser that will ship with Windows 10 is a "reset" for the company after it was determined that Internet Explorer had far too much negative baggage to overcome.

In a Twitter Q&A session, the Edge dev team has confirmed that the new browser will support syncing of bookmarks, passwords, history and tabs, like FireFox sync. But, the company did not say when this feature would arrive, only that it would be coming in a future update.

This announcement should not be a major surprise to anyone as Edge needs to match the feature sets of both Firefox and Chrome if it hopes to be a serious competitor going forward. And for those of you who will have multiple Windows devices, like a phone and Xbox One, this feature will be highly desired so that you don"t lose your content as you travel to each device.

Edge is still a work in process, the browser is far from complete and there are still many features that will arrive later this year. One such feature, besides the syncing, are extensions, that are said to arrive late summer or early fall.

If you want to play with Edge right now, check out build 10074 that was released last week as that is the latest public release of Windows 10 or you can check out our gallery of build 10108 to see the latest the company has to offer but has yet to release.
