Microsoft could introduce a new color for its Surface Laptop and Surface Pro next month

color tweak concept

Last week, Microsoft sent out invitations to its Surface event that will take place at the beginning of October. Although details of what will be announced at the event have not been revealed, it is likely that a majority of the event will be spent on the firm"s updated hardware.

According to Brad Sams of Thurrott.com, you shouldn"t expect any new Surface hardware at the event, as it looks like Microsoft will be focusing on refreshes this go-around. But, it seems the company will introduce a new color to its existing lines, with the black color option being made available for the Surface Laptop and Surface Pro. While a formal name hasn"t been attached, it will mean one new color choice will be added to the lineup that currently consists of Platinum, Burgundy, Cobalt Blue, and Graphite Gold.

Sams states that the new color will be a hat tip to the original Surface Pro that debuted in 2013. The Microsoft logo will be chrome and apparently, the contrast of colors looks "fantastic". Sams is unaware whether the refreshed devices will bring USB Type-C port in tow, but it could be likely, considering that the Surface Go that was released just a few months back offered the technology. Speaking of which, the event will also host the launch of the LTE model of the Surface Go.

Naturally, there could be more to the announcement, but we will just have to wait, as leaks for the event seem few and far between.
