Microsoft had originally stated that they planned to release Windows 10 build 9879 to "slow ring" users possibly this week but that is no longer the case. Microsoft"s head of the Windows Insider program, Gabe Aul, has stated that the release will not occur until next week.
The reason for the delay? The company is making a few additional fixes to the build so that it will be more stable when it hits the slower release cycle. The new target for the 9879 release for "slow ring" users is early next week.
While we do not know what additional fixes are being targeted for the release, any stability enhancements will be welcomed for those of you who use Windows 10 as your primary OS.
If you need a refresher about what is new in 9879, you can check out this post here and for those of you who missed it earlier, it looks like Microsoft is bumping the kernel version number up to 10 for the next release of Windows 10.
