Microsoft has announced it will soon slash the U.K. price of its recently released Xbox One console to £399.99, a cut of £30 that will leave it just £50 more expensive than Sony"s PlayStation 4 in the country. No price drop has been announced for other markets.
The price point will go into effect Friday, and a new limited edition bundle will include the console and a downloadable digital copy of the upcoming first-person shooter "Titanfall" for the same cost. That bundle will be sold in the U.S. for $499.99, the price the console has sold for in the country since launch.

Microsoft"s new console has sold well in the U.S., though it was significantly outpaced by the PlayStation 4 in January. In December, the Xbox One was the bestselling console in the U.S. with more than 908,000 units sold, but it hasn"t appeared to fare as well in overseas markets. On Jan. 23, Microsoft revealed it had sold more than 3.9 million Xbox One units to retail outlets, and prior to that the company said it sold more than 3 million units to consumers from the console"s Nov. 22 launch to the end of 2013.
On Tuesday, Sony announced the PlayStation 4, which launched a week before the Xbox One, has sold more than 5.3 million units, exceeding its sales projections.
When it launches March 11, "Titanfall" will be one of the first major exclusives released for either the Xbox One or PlayStation 4 in the new console generation, and Microsoft and publisher EA are expected to heavily promote the title. An open beta of the game, which will also be released on the Xbox 360 and PC, ended last week.
