Microsoft Edge Dev is now available for users on Android

A couple of weeks after making Edge Canary available for Android users, Microsoft has now released Edge Dev for Android (spotted by Techdows). Just like with the Canary release, the Dev branch release is based on version 91 and comes as a part of the company’s plans to unify the browser’s codebase across platforms. With this release, both desktop and mobile Edge Dev builds are now on version 91.0.864.11, with Canary branch builds having moved to version 92.

Edge Dev on Android brings the same tweaks to the design as with the Canary builds. While comparing the Canary release with the current stable version, we noted significant performance improvements, a welcome change for those that prefer the Redmond giant’s offering over Google’s Chrome or other browsers on mobile. The same improvements should also apply to the latest Dev builds. Features such as the ability to use Edge Dev as the autofill provider are also present under sync settings.

Microsoft says that the unification of the codebase across platforms improves “engineering efficiency” by letting the company roll out features to desktop and mobile clients simultaneously and maintain feature parity. It also touts advantages for developers and enterprises. There is currently no word on when the firm expects to release test versions for iOS.

You can head to the Google Play Store here to download the latest version of Edge Dev for Android and try out the enhancements made to the browser. Considering that these are still test builds, there might be some rough edges.
