Microsoft Edge will natively support Skype voice & video calls without the need for a plug-in

It"s happening folks, those that use Skype will be happy to know that Microsoft"s Edge browser will natively support the voice and video calling application without the need for plug-ins in the near future.

This is being made possible by the new ORTC API preview for Microsoft"s Edge browser that is available to those running the latest Windows Insider build of Windows 10. Although the feature isn"t live yet, the Skype team is working hard to bring the useful feature to users by the end of the year. This feature will roll out to both standard and business Skype users.

For those interested, be sure to register as a Windows Insider to get the latest build of Windows 10. Currently, Windows 10 is available as a free update for those running a valid copy of Windows 7, 8 and 8.1. This will be a limited time offer and those that would like to opt-in should reserve their copy.
