As major players like Amazon, Apple, and Google ramp up the competition in the smart home market by introducing various devices ranging from digital assistants to advanced CCTV systems, Microsoft wants to fight back, this time, with a Cortana-powered thermostat that looks like it"s taken from a sci-fi movie
For this undertaking, Microsoft found a highly-capable partner in Johnson Controls, pioneers in the HVAC, fire and security field, in order to build the new GLAS thermostat which aims to become an indispensable gadget for every smart home out there.
Even though all the features and specifications haven"t been fully unveiled, the GLAS thermostat will be able to detect human presence in the room and will be constantly monitoring the air quality inside and outside the house. The cherry on top is that users will be able to control GLAS via Cortana as the device will run on Microsoft"s Windows 10 IoT Core OS.
Microsoft hasn"t announced yet anything specific in regards to the thermostat"s release date or price, but the smart home market is looking quite promising with more and more players entering the race.
