If you own a Surface 3 and were brave enough to ignore our warning about putting Windows 10 on your tablet, you will know what a disaster the experience has been when trying to use the device. Fortunately, the latest build makes using Windows 10 on the company"s newest Surface member significantly better.
With the previous releases that worked on the Surface 3, performance was degraded to what felt like trying to push a wet noodle through a swimming pool and apps crashed harder than the Greece economy. The experience was so bad that I have not used my Surface 3 in about 6 weeks, but thankfully, the new build is much more stable and dare I say nearly ready for prime time.
Yes, there are still a few issues with apps not operating as expected but app crashing is now the exception and not the rule. The Start menu has opened every time I hit the physical and virtual key and Edge works well too but I still prefer Chrome for now.
If you do have a Surface 3 and have held off putting Windows 10 on the device, as long as the tablet does not play a critical role in your daily life, the latest build is stable enough for most users.
With less than a month to go before Microsoft will release Windows 10 to consumers around the world, the company is likely burning the midnight oil at this point to squash bugs and diligently test the OS on a wide range of hardware. Windows 10 will be released on July 29th and Microsoft hopes to have a billion users running the OS in the next 2-3 years.
