Following its massively successful launch on PC earlier this year, Microsoft Flight Simulator is finally getting its promised console version soon, though it is skipping a promised platform. Xbox Series X|S owners will be able to begin their journey across Earth starting in summer 2021, but the previously announced Xbox One version seems to be scrapped as it is not listed on the trailer. Watch the announcement trailer above, which has been captured on an Xbox Series X.
Since its release on PC, the title has so far received two free map updates that enhanced Japan and the U.S.A with updated the terrain, hand-crafted airports, and new points of interest to the Bing Maps-powered. The Xbox console version is planned to land with all of these plus themed DLC bundles and improvements from the PC version. Moreover, the development team is working on adding additional peripheral support for Xbox Series X|S consoles to offer a more immersive sim experience.
Microsoft didn"t give a reason for the lack of the previously announced Xbox One version, but the removal is likely due to the game"s intensive hardware requirements.
In addition to being a standalone product, being an Xbox Game Studios title, Microsoft Flight Simulator will also be available on day one on the Xbox Game Pass subscription program just like the PC version has been from the beginning. The PC version is also slated to receive VR support this month.
