Google, Microsoft, Apple and Yahoo are four mega corporations that are all competing for your attention. The New York Times has put together a chart that compares all of these competitors and displays all the areas they compete.
The chart (shown below) clearly labels how each of the competitors currently compete or will compete in the near future. The chart also shows that Microsoft is the most diverse and is then followed by Google, Apple, and Yahoo brings up the rear.
By placing the areas of competition next to each other it also shows where companies might head in the near future. If you look at Microsoft’s column, they compete in all areas except mobile hardware, and there are rumors circulating that it may enter this arena with its project “pink”. Apple is also lacking in the online search, news and maps so it may be possible that they expand into this area as well to help make their brand a complete solution for the consumer.
