The US Presidential Election is now over with, but Microsoft is still collecting information about the visitors and page views it generated this past Tuesday on both Bing and MSN on that day. Microsoft made a big push for Bing to be a center of election coverage, adding in features like news updates, social media posts, online polls and more to its election hub.
Today, the official Bing blog announced that both Bing and MSN had a total of almost 32 million visitors on Tuesday, with over 308 million pages generated by those visitors. Microsoft also made a point to show that lots of people accessed those websites even while the major US television networks were airing their wall-to-wall election coverage.
The blog states:
In fact, almost 8 million people visited Bing and MSN during the primetime broadcast hours of 8-11 PM ET on election night, which matched CBS and beat Fox (4.9 million) and MSNBC (4.7 million). People visiting Bing peaked at 11 PM ET on Election Day followed by the second most visited time period of 12 PM ET the following day.
It"s more than likely that people were watching the television coverage of the election Tuesday while also checking out Bing and MSN"s news on the subject at the same time on their laptop or tablet.
