Microsoft first announced its Xbox Design Lab controllers at E3 2016, and began taking pre-orders later that day. Today, those pre-orders began shipping. The company originally said that the controllers would ship in early September, so it would appear that they"re coming in a bit ahead of schedule.
If you"re not familiar with Microsoft"s Xbox Design Lab, it allows gamers to create their own custom Xbox One controllers. Fans can choose between a number of different colors for the body, bumpers and triggers, the D-pad, thumbsticks, ABXY buttons, start and menu buttons, and the back. Between all of the different combinations, Microsoft says that there are eight million ways to customize one of these controllers.
The controllers retail for $79.99 each; however, you also have the option to get them engraved for an additional $10. Sadly, the program is US-only at the moment, but it"s expected to launch in Europe next year.
