Microsoft"s monthly round-up of updates brought to Microsoft 365 has been published today. A host of changes introduced in January have been featured, including the launching of Office 365 on the Mac App Store, new information protection and compliance solutions, fresh capabilities in Teams targeted toward Firstline Workers, and much more. Some upcoming features which can be expected in the following months have been mentioned as well.
To kick things off, the tech giant"s suite of Office apps finally made its way to the Mac App Store. As is the case with Windows 10, these can be downloaded for free.
OneDrive Files On-Demand began rolling out to Mac users earlier this month. This feature essentially enables users to access files on OneDrive using their OS"s navigation system - as would be the case if they were stored locally.
Furthermore, it is now much easier to add interactive features including 3D visuals, filters, narration, and more to videos created using Microsoft Photos. Starting next month, the ability to integrate Stream videos with PowerPoint presentations will be made available as well. In the coming months, customers will also be able to include Microsoft Forms quizzes and polling with the Stream videos.
Today, simplified information protection solutions to comply with upcoming privacy regulations were introduced to Microsoft 365 as well. A dedicated workspace called the Microsoft 365 compliance center has been made available, enabling privacy teams to easily view and respond to regulatory requirements. Other changes include new capabilities in Advanced eDiscovery and enhancements to Office 365 Supervision.
Moreover, some changes were brought to Teams as well, with the goal of empowering Firstline Workers. These workers are now able to collaborate securely, on the go, with an updated mobile experience that includes exclusive features such as location sharing and smart camera. Schedules can now also be easily managed in the workplace platform, while a "Praise" tool to commend employees publicly has been introduced as well.
Lastly, other updates this month include OneDrive becoming the default save location for Office 365 documents, improvements to the SharePoint migration tool, and the ability to integrate Yammer conversations with SharePoint. Microsoft Forms is now also generally available to Office 365 U.S. Government GCC and GCC High environments, while the Office Cloud Service Policy is now in public preview.
