Microsoft has brought in a new executive from a rival company to lead its sales division in the US. The person is Judson Althoff, who Microsoft named today as its new president of North America Sales and Marketing. Althoff will also have the title of corporate vice president at Microsoft.
Microsoft stated in its press release that prior to his new gig, Althoff worked for 14 years at Oracle in a variety of positions, the last being its senior vice president of worldwide alliances, channels and embedded sales. His first official day of work will be March 29, where he will report to Kevin Turner, the chief operating officer at Microsoft. Turner is quoted as saying, "Judson’s proven leadership will enable us to continue to excel in delivering the best devices and services experience to our customers including businesses and consumers.”
Althoff will have a lot of work to do when he begins his new gig at Microsoft. The company is currently dealing with slower PC sales in general which has caused the CEOs of PC companies such as Samsung to put at least part of the blame on the slower than expected launch of Windows 8.
