It"s been a very busy 2012 for Microsoft, with the launch of a number of new products and services including Windows 8. On November 28, Microsoft will be holding its annual shareholders meeting at its headquarters in Redmond, Washington, where in theory the company"s shareholders can learn about what"s going on at Microsoft and ask questions to its management.
In a post on the Microsoft on the Issues blog, the company revealed that for the first time, Microsoft shareholders who cannot physically attend the meeting can still participate in a virtual shareholders meeting. The blog states that " ... shareholders of record can vote and ask questions online during the meeting in real time." The blog adds that Microsoft is now accepting questions to the company"s management ahead of time, either via email or through the company"s shareholder forum.
During the shareholder"s meeting in 2011, Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer declared, "We are in the Windows era" nearly a year before the launch of Windows 8. However, the company was highly criticized at the time for only allowing 15 minutes for shareholders to ask questions. We suspect that many stock owners will have questions for Ballmer about the sales of Windows 8, the launch of the Surface and the recent departure of Windows head man Steven Sinofsky.
