Microsoft is hard at work improving its presence on competing mobile platforms. These improvements include the Bing search engine and its image filtering capabilities, which was recently updated and is now live for iOS and Android.
The image search improvements allow users on those platforms who use Bing.com to use touch-input to modify search parameters without having to type additional words. As you"ll see in the video above, searching for "spring flowers" will bring up color options that users can scroll through simply by swiping side to side; tapping "red" will bring up spring flowers that have red coloring in them.
In addition to filtering, image searches through Bing can now offer intelligent groups. When you tap on any of your searched words, a list of possible words or phrases relating to your initial search will pop up, allowing users to jump to related searches quickly.
Microsoft"s strategy is to bring more attention to Bing and its power as a search engine. Making searches touch friendly is one way to encourage users of Android and iOS to use Bing more in the future instead of other search platforms like its current partner Yahoo! or Google.
