Microsoft is bringing Cortana to more countries

Microsoft has drummed up the importance of Cortana considerably in the months leading up to and following the release of Windows 10 - and for good reason. The personal assistant is the first of its kind to be natively integrated with a desktop OS and one of the best (and snarkiest!) features of Windows 10. While the company has been rolling the feature out slowly due to localisation concerns, those waiting for her arrival in Australia, Canada and Japan will be pleased to know that she will soon be coming to their shores.

Starting today, Microsoft is making Cortana and optional download for users in Canada and Australia (in English) and in Japan. Unfortunately, users need to be enrolled in the "Insider Program" and have at least Build 10532 installed.

Cortana is already available in English for those in India, but the company is still looking to improve its service. From integrating more local content and accommodating local ceremonies like , Microsoft has a particular focus on making Cortana as feature ready as possible. In that vein, Microsoft will also be performing a back-end update with an improved voice by the end of this month.

Users in other countries need not despair. Microsoft also has plans to bring its prized personal assistant to Mexico and Brazil, along with French support in Canada, by the end of the year.
