Today, Microsoft announced some changed it"s making to the Xbox Insider Hub, mainly to the XP Leaderboard. The problem that it"s aiming to solve is that there"s too much of a gap in XP scores from people that have been with the Xbox Insider Program the longest. No one has a fair chance of catching up.
The company also noted that it knows that some Insiders complete Quests or Surveys without actually completing the content of those, just for the points. And this, obviously, was not the firm"s intent when building the XP system.
Microsoft says that it"s going to change not only the way it records XP, but also the way it shows leaderboards. The changes will be under-the-hood, for the most part, but they"re obviously going to change how the leaderboards are displayed, what people"s XP scores are, and so on.
Even though the leaderboard in its current form is being retired, Microsoft did note that you"ll still be able to earn points for Quests, Surveys, and for filing bugs. But moving forward, it seems like the company wants to give newer Insiders a chance to shine.
