Last week, Microsoft hosted an event at which it unveiled a range of Surface hardware: the new 28-inch Surface Studio all-in-one desktop PC with Surface Dial interaction tool; a new mouse, keyboard and ergonomic keyboard; and a more powerful version of its Surface Book with improved performance and better battery life.
But there"s another version of the Surface Book on the way, which Microsoft didn"t announce at its event last week.
The new SKU will feature an Intel Core i5 processor, along with 8GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. Previously, the Core i5 chip was only available with either 128GB or 256GB SSD options.
However, the new 512GB model, which costs $1,999, won"t feature the discrete GPU option available on some Surface Books. If you want a dGPU with 512GB of storage, you"ll have to opt for a Core i7 variant, priced at $2,699 (or $2,799 for the new Performance Base version), which also includes an increase in RAM to 16GB.
The new Surface Book Core i5 / 512GB model is now available to pre-order from the Microsoft Store in the US, with a release date of November 10 - the same date on which the Surface Book with Performance Base will be released.
