Microsoft is not giving up on the Xbox One in Japan, places hopes with Windows 10

After launching the Xbox One last September in Japan, this latest console from Microsoft was never received well. Recently, the console hit an all-time low in sales, selling only 100 units in the country. It was trumped by local console makers, such as Nintendo with their Wii U and DS, and Sony with the PlayStation.

But this dismal report for Microsoft seems to not be enough for them to lose hope in finally cracking the Japanese market with the Xbox One. A press event was recently held by Microsoft, during the Q&A portion of event, the issue of poor Xbox One sales was raised, and a reporter asked about the possibility of pulling the console in Japan because of the aforementioned matter. Takuya Hirano answered:

We"re not withdrawing. Because of Windows 10, even the Xbox One has new features that we"ll try to appeal [to Japanese consumers] with. We want to have an even higher quality line up of titles than now.

With the imminent release of Windows 10, Microsoft is also preparing to bring its upcoming OS to the Xbox One. It still remains to be seen if powering the Xbox One with Windows 10 can finally boost the console"s sales in Japan.
