If you"ve been considering subscribing to Microsoft"s Groove Music Pass subscription service, now is probably the time to do so. First spotted by Paul Thurrott, the company is offering six free months of service to new subscribers who pay for their first month as part of its Labor Day deals.
As you might expect, there"s more to the fine print than in the actual deal. The offer runs from now until 12:00am PT on September 5, and it"s available in the US, Canada, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, and Mexico. Typically, these types of deals are US-only, so in the usual Microsoft fashion, the company has chosen a US holiday to break from its US-centric ways.
It"s also for new subscribers only, which means that if you"ve ever subscribed to Groove in the past, this isn"t for you. After you pay for your first month at $9.99, you"ll be sent two tokens worth three months of service within 30 days; those expire on October 31. Interestingly, these tokens can be transferred to "another eligible user", which presumably means another new subscriber.
