Microsoft is once again offering big discounts on various models in its Surface range, this time focusing on some of those at the lower-end, making those options even more affordable. The latest offers come as rumors continue to swirl around the possibility of newer versions of the Surface Pro 4 and Surface Book arriving in the next few months.
Curiously, the new discounts mean that the entry-level Core m3 model now costs exactly the same both with and without the Surface Pen. Microsoft began selling the Surface Pro 4 without the Pen for the first time last month.
The standard Core m3 model, which comes with 4GB RAM and 128GB storage, and includes the Pen, has had its price cut by $200, dropping from $899 to $699. The same model without the Pen has been reduced by $100, from $799 to $699.
The Core i5 model with 8GB RAM and 256GB storage has got a $150 discount, falling from $1,199 to $1,049.
The entry-level Surface Book - which has an Intel Core i5 processor, 8GB RAM and 128GB SSD - usually costs $1,499, but has now been reduced to $1,299, a savings of $200.
The Core i5 model with 8GB RAM and 256GB SSD, along with a discrete GPU - the cheapest Book in the range to come with the dGPU option - has had its price cut by $250, falling from $1,899 to $1,649.
All other models in the both the Surface Book and Pro 4 ranges remain at their regular prices. Intriguingly, all Core i7 models of the Book are now sold out (and at least one of them has been out of stock for several weeks). It"s not clear when - or even if - Microsoft is intending to bring in new inventory of those devices, considering its recent launch of i7 models with its new Performance Base. The Performance Base models will soon go on sale in eight new markets around the world.
All of the aforementioned discounts, on both the Surface Book and Surface Pro 4, will remain available on the Microsoft Store until February 25.
